Artist's Comments

I've been in a girly mood lately, and somehow a young Arwen came to mind.

(it also seems I have a permanent association with art nouveau and Tolkien...)

You have done a lovely job on this one.

I do think Art Nouveau suits Arwen much better than Neo Raphaelite; but, with Tolkein's works, either style fits most of his characters.

i definitely like the texture of her hair and dress, the way it's drawn in the lineart.. a kind of crepe paper feel. the colors are also excellently chosen: subtle but with sufficient contrast to make the necessary parts stand out. it's really nice and unique. i'm not sure about that outer ring of stars being off the canvas though, it seems to weaken the composition.

It's so beautiful and it looks almost simplistic.
I loved it, the relaxed posture and the texture of the hair and dress, the position of the fet and the starred crown on her head.
It gives you the sensation of tranquility.
:iconurdsama:
Thank you! The feeling of tranquility is exactly what I was trying to portray, I'm so glad you feel the same! ^__^
:iconurdsama:
Thank you so much! I was experimenting with the hair, but am very happy with how it turned out.

The outer ring of stars extends off the canvas to open up the composition. Originally I had it as a perfect circle, but it was too round and too constricting, especially in conjunction with the inner circle. This way there's breathing room on top, and the figure is balanced by the smaller circle by her feet. .... Or so I imagine. ^__^

And also, may I take this opportunity to express my adoration of your work? I've been following your gallery for about half a year now, and I am just absolutely in love with your style. And you love Ariel! ^_^ (I do too!) Your work is pure pleasure to see, thank you so much for sharing it with us!
